Why cache tags carry the whole design (edited 16:32:11)
Cache forever, and still never serve stale content.
A CDN, a Varnish or a Next.js route may keep a response indefinitely, as long as the origin can say "tag node:1 is now stale". Time-based expiry is a guess; a tag is a fact.

This page depends on node:1 and nothing else. Saving a different node must not change the “rendered at” stamp above.
